National Chapter Election Guidelines
The purpose of these guidelines is to establish procedures that govern LFRNC elections.
The Latham Family Reunion National Chapter (“LFRNC”) Elected Officers shall consist of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Family Historian and Sergeant-at-Arms. All elected officers shall hold their offices for four (4) years commencing in July of the election year.
Requirement To Hold Office
Any adult Latham Family Member is eligible to run for office. Family members should submit their nomination to the LFRNC Secretary no later than the last day of December prior to the election, with elections being at the Family Reunion the following year. In the event the reunion is not held that year, the election process will continue and family members will be notified of the results via the website or U.S. Mail. All Nominee names will be placed on the LFRNC website no later than March of the election year. If not a current member, you must be a member (in good standing) of the LFRNC in order to run and hold office.
Election Procedures
With the exception of the first election, all offices are declared vacant. Officers shall be elected by a simple majority of the total vote cast over the voting period. The voting period will run from 1 April to 30 June of the election year. All ballots or internet voting must be received by 30 June of the election year. Voting will be allowed at the reunion for family members who have not voted. The term of office is four years, except for individuals appointed mid-term to complete a vacant office in which case their term(s) shall extend through the time in which they were appointed.
Voting Pool
The Voting Pool will consist of the members that are on the family mailing directory held by the LFRNC. Must be 16 yrs old at the time you cast your vote. Only one vote for each family member. The Secretary will keep a record of all votes cast. Note: If a family member is not on the mailing list and wants to participate, they will be required to provide contact information at the time their vote is cast.
